A CVC Life Change Story...

Scrapbookin' and helping friends!

If you haven't heard about the Scrap'n Sisters, have I got a story for you. Scrap'n Sisters meet once a month for fellowship, scrapbooking, and to serve the community (from feeding the homeless, to hosting a baby shower for the City of Refuge). On May 3, 2005, the Scrap'n Sisters welcomed Crystal Heimgartner to the group for the first time. Scrap'n Sisters embraced Crystal into a small group of women and friendships developed immediately. Crystal was just a few days away from giving birth to her second child, which added a special excitement to the group. As the evening closed, it was obvious that Crystal had "connected" at CVC.

Three days later, tragedy struck Crystal's family. When Crystal arrived home from a Mother's Day dinner, she found that her home had caught fire. Although her home was not totally consumed, the smoke damage had ruined nearly everything inside. Crystal was not only due to deliver her baby at any time, but she had planned a home-birth. The family was devastated. Crystal had friends and family that offered her immediate assistance. CVC's Scrap'n Sisters were no exception. Once word got to the group's leader, Tina Barry, the move was made to comfort this family in need. Tina coordinated with Crystal's small group as well as other members of Scrap'n Sisters. Food, clothing, household goods, and gift certificates were gathered for Crystal's family. Several dinners were prepared and delivered over the following weeks. Speaking of deliveries ... Crystal gave birth to a healthy baby girl! Since that time, Crystal and her family have found temporary housing while their new home is being built.

The Scrap'n Sisters would like to invite you to "get connected" too. The group meets the first Friday of each month, so join us this Friday (July 1st) at 6:00pm. For more information, contact Tina Barry or D.J. Bratsch.
